Hmm, didn't you recently crucify Ed Hansberry in your "review" of MS MVPs for offering this same advice- (except in Ed's case he was pairing a PPC to a non-MS bluetooth phone.) Now you make essentially the same suggestion (better computing device than Smartphone + bluetooth phone beats Smartphone.

If I then start from scratch again, I can make the pairing and use it! What am I doing wrong? Am I right to think that if I want to use my headset once it has been paired that I simply switch it on, activate bluetooth on the phone, then go into the hands-free menu and get it to find the headset?

My Bluetooth phone can find the PC but after I have entered the passcode for the phone and also in the popup box on the PC the pairing fails. Can anyone advise. Thanks very much. The trick being getting asterisk connected to the phone via bluetooth. I've got a uniden cordless setup that allows pairing a bluetooth phone with the 5.8ghz wireless handsets but there's not a way to 'hop' over to the other landline. "pairing" has nothing to do with the services. the idea of "pairing" is to create pre-shared key which both devices can use to encrypt data. Any further information would be very helpful.
